19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
